April 2016 Cambria County Health and Welfare Council Meeting Minutes

 The regular monthly meeting of the Cambria County Health and Welfare Council was held on April 6th at 8:30 am at Alleghenies UCP.

Call to Order:  Josh Yoder, Vice President

Announcements:

  • Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers:

“Cinco De Meow” – Pet Supply Drive benefitting Cambria County Humane Society.  Monday May 2- Friday May 6.  Drop off donations at Johnstown (Para-Coat Technologies, 817 Franklin St.) or Richland(AUCP, 119 Jari Dr.)  Some needed items:  paper towels, M&L Latex gloves, cat & dog food (unopened), non-clumping cat litter, garbage bags, toys, used collars and leashes.  *Make checks payable to the Humane Society of Cambria County.

  • Child Advocacy Center:

Pinwheels for Prevention.  April is Child Abuse Awareness month.  The Child Advocacy Center will be selling pinwheels for $1 and prevention t-shirts for $10 to raise awareness throughout April.  Please contact Diana Grosik, 254-4567

  • ACRP, Inc.

Oldies Dance, 4/30/16, Johnstown Classic Rockers,  Proceeds benefit ACRP will be 50/50 sales, food with good friends and dancing the night away.  Contact Bev Bender, 535-5611, ext. 321

Discussion Items:

  • March Meeting Minutes were approved.
  • Finance Report was shared by Katelyn Clem, Treasurer
  • Member survey results were discussed and several members did not get a chance to complete the survey.  Kristen Villarrial will send the survey out again this month. 

 

Program:

“Community Innovation Zone” partnership with Cambria County Child Development Corporation and Greater Johnstown School District.  Goals to increase family engagement with preschoolers – age 3.  Kristen will send power point with April meeting minutes.
